Background & History

Amanda Scott is a Senior Associate at Frost Law focusing on U.S. international tax matters for high-net-worth individuals, business owners, investors, and privately held companies. She advises clients on the U.S. tax consequences of cross-border transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, investments, and other inbound and outbound matters. Amanda regularly works with clients whose businesses, assets, or ownership interests span multiple jurisdictions, helping them address the individual and business tax issues that come with operating and investing across borders.

Amanda has advised U.S. and foreign clients on a wide range of international tax matters involving foreign corporations and partnerships, foreign trusts, tax treaties, foreign tax credits, cross-border ownership structures, and international reporting obligations. Her experience includes both transactional planning and ongoing international tax compliance. She particularly enjoys working with founders, business owners, and families when a transaction has tax consequences beyond the business itself and affects the client’s broader investment and wealth planning.

Before joining Frost Law, Amanda worked in international tax at Baker Tilly, Anchin, and PwC, where she advised individuals and businesses on complex U.S. international tax issues. Her background in tax law gives her a practical perspective when evaluating cross-border structures and transactions. She works closely with clients and their legal, accounting, and financial advisors to address both the immediate tax issues presented by a transaction and the client’s longer-term business and investment goals.

Amanda earned her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law and later received her Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University School of Law. She earned her undergraduate degrees in Public Policy and Business Administration from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
