Background & History

Robert serves as an Associate Attorney in the Tax Controversy and Tax Advisory practice groups at Frost Law. Before his tenure at Frost Law, he gained experience at the University of Baltimore Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic, advocating for taxpayers before the IRS, state tax authorities, and the United States District Court. Robert is a proactive member of the Maryland tax community. He currently serves on the MSBA Taxation Section Council. During his time with the Council, he has served as Co-Editor for Maryland Taxes, promoting the digital publication of the book for section members, as well as the Maryland Tax Practitioner’s Handbook.

Beyond his professional commitments, Robert is deeply involved in the Annapolis community. He holds a position on the board of Live Arts Maryland. In his leisure time, Robert enjoys everything the Chesapeake Bay has to offer.

If I could give Frost Law, and more specifically attorney Robert Braland, 10 stars, I would! I spoke with Robert for close to an hour about some questions/concerns that we have with the Employee Retention Credit. Robert is very knowledgeable about the ERC and was able to answer my questions and explain things in terms a non-attorney (me) could understand! Rather than trying to get billable hours from us, Robert was straight up with me and said that he didn't think we need him now, but in the future if the need arises, he's there to help us! When you are having an issue with the IRS, you need professional help to communicate with the right person within the IRS that can help you with your situation. Unfortunately I was not able to find that person and my situation continued to drag on for months. I would communicate by letter and also attempted to use the phone but to no avail. The IRS did not quit working my case and their letters indicated they were getting stronger in demands.
